About Capoeira:
This dynamic class introduces students to Capoeira, the Afro-Brazilian martial art form that blends rhythmic movement, acrobatics, and dynamic, dance-like interaction. Participants learn foundational kicks, sweeps, escapes, and flowing sequences, while developing strength, flexibility, rhythm, and teamwork. Through games, music, and partner exercises, students experience Capoeira's unique blend of movement, culture, and self-expression.
What's a Roda?
A circle, or "roda", is central to Capoeira. It is a circle game where two people (or players) are inside the circle engaging in gameplay and "battle" while musicians and other participants around the circle provide the rhythm to guide the game, sing, clap, and bring energy to the roda. All participants will get the opportunity to play if they wish.
